Who is Mapedia?
In this article, we will take a step back from the core topics we usually discuss. If you’ve read any of our past articles on Medium, which tend to deliver Mapedia’s thoughts and opinions on the Past, Present, and Future of education, you’ve probably wondered who is behind Mapedia’s brain. In this brief article, we’ll pull back the curtain and give a brief introduction into who we really are.
Mapedia
Mapedia is an open-source, community based educational platform that is a hybrid of “Wikipedia + Google Earth for Learning”. Our goal is to help each unique learner achieve their goals by combatting “One-Size-Fits-All” educational platforms and institutions. Through exploratory search, and community/data driven guidance, curious users are given the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow on their own personal learning path.
Olivier
Olivier is the technical Co-founder of Mapedia - which started as a side project in 2019 under the name of “Sci-Map”. Olivier has a background in applied mathematics and excels in the space of software engineering and design. Olivier is passionate about learning and enjoys diving deep into technical topics while also studying history and social sciences.
Max
Max is the other Co-founder of Mapedia, joining Olivier in 2021. Max comes from the tech consulting sector and excels in the space of product development and community management. Max is currently exploring the literary space and learning about hypothesis-driven product management.
